home sweet home

Most of you have kept up with the news about Oaxaca recently. There have been riots and protests in Oaxaca City for 5 months now. It got terribly out of hand when policemen were being shot and the American reporter was killed. Troops had been stationed in Huatulco, a city about 2 hours from Roca Blanca. They moved in to the city on Sunday to put an end to the violence and rioting. Fortunately, we were already on the road and out of the State when this happened. We left early Saturday morning and began our 45 hour drive trip. God really kept us safe and healthy. We had no car trouble, good weather, and very little traffic. Our only problem was being stopped at the border. We told them we came from Oaxaca and they pulled us over and x-rayed our car. It was a little scary at the time but really cool to see a giant moving x-ray machine. They searched our car but didn't take anything from us and we were soon in the USA. It is so good to be back with my family and friends.

Our time at Roca was incredible. We served on the mission field, grew closer to God, and made friendships with some amazing people. Matt and I will tell a little of our tale on Sunday, November 5 at the Grove Church. I can't wait to see everyone. Thank you all for your support and prayers.
